Suicide Squad – Batman Retires!

Suicide-Squad-Poster-Art-Title

Purple Lamborghini by Skrillex…

Queen’s legendary Bohemian Rhapsody…

Enimen’s Without Me aestheticizes the violence as they say…

That funky Come Baby Come by K7 way back from 1993 makes an appearance…

You even have Kanye West’s Black Skinhead!

Well, if your favorite songs were to appear one by one as in a killer playlist, Suicide Squad is that playlist! And if that pretty much sums up the much awaited supervillain movie, there might be something wrong with it!

Unlike the word on the street with hostile reviews galore, Suicide Squad is not really a bad movie per se.

Will Smith as Deadshot is excellent with a pretty neat backstory. But if you’re looking for something new, you are going to be disappointed. The character reminded me of Smith’s role from The Pursuit of Happyness and that’s all I’m saying.

Jared Leto’s Joker isn’t as menacing as in Nolan’s The Dark Knight. You know he’s a psychopath, you know he’s unpredictable. But in Suicide Squad, there’s a pattern to what he’s doing and that’s his undoing.

What do I say about Harley Quinn? I don’t know if Suicide Squad would’ve been possible without Margot Robbie. Sexy, sassy, crazy and kick ass…Harley Quinn is all this at the same time. In an underwritten role, Robbie shines through and through. She’s the best thing in Suicide Squad.

The movie wanders into familiar territory after the customary introductions as in any ensemble cast film.  You’re not going to lose your sleep in any action sequences…neither are you going to fall down from the edge of seat with thrills!

Ben Affleck makes a brief appearance and so do some superheroes from the DC universe. The film also alludes to a sequel.

But then, if you are in the mood for some weekend fun, Suicide Squad is not going to disappoint. Maybe you should watch it just for Harley Quinn. She wouldn’t mind a little bit of attention!
